Cadence Counsel Presents: Change Management and Corporate Culture

In this series, panelists will discuss the ways in which both the pandemic and the heightened spotlight on racial injustice has redefined the meaning of “corporate culture” and the ways that law department leaders in particular can position themselves and their divisions to advise their corporations through these times. We will discuss the various meanings of “corporate culture” and what that term really means to underrepresented minorities. We may discuss the effects of personality assessments and other traditional tools that are steeped in unconscious bias that corporations often use to make hiring decisions (and why those tools are particularly harmful now). We will discuss DEI and how we lack generally a common understanding of the definition of diversity.  We will talk about what it means to request “a diverse slate of talent” for consideration. And we will discuss how the use of change management techniques can help law department leaders approach uncomfortable conversations and how to engage outside resources in the creation of inclusive spaces at the enterprise level.
