NYC Bar: Dressing Authentically: Expressing Your Personal Style Within the Boundaries of the Law

Description: A year ago, the NYC Human Rights Commission released guidelines called the New York City Human Rights Law which seeks to protect the rights of New Yorkers to maintain natural hair or hairstyles closely related with racial, ethnic or cultural identities. This law made New York the second state to ban this type of discrimination after California. A panel of experts will explore the recent legislation addressing acceptable dress in the work place. Additionally, the panel will expound upon how you can express your personal style while protecting yourself from discrimination, as well as giving you tangible ways to be authentic and professional through your style choices.
