In the competitive business of law, in order to have and maintain a thriving practice and a successful career, all lawyers, particularly women, need to learn to communicate effectively with their colleagues, skillfully engage in self-promotion and develop strong networking skills. The Women in Law Institute is an all-day training session for 2Ls, 3Ls, LLMs, judicial clerks, recent law school graduates, and women who have practiced for less than 12 months. The day provides participants with critical skills needed to successfully navigate their careers.
The Institute is a combination of lecture and applied learning workshops. Expert trainers deliver lectures on effective communication, self-promotion, and networking. Following each lecture, students work in interactive small groups of four or six students with two experienced attorneys to perfect these skills and receive individualized critiques. The day concludes with a cocktail reception to celebrate the successful conclusion of the day for the participants.
